General Manager, Stacy Niemann
“Hi! I’m Stacy. I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, but Battle Creek has won me over in in the 11 years that I’ve been calling it “home”. I couldn’t be more excited to be an integral part of building this awesome new community space with you all. I like to say I really found myself when I worked at a co-op in my early twenties, so having this opportunity is a real full-circle moment for me. I celebrated 10 years of marriage to my husband this past September, and we are in the thick of it with two tween-age kiddos right now. We have 5 acres on the outskirts of town and love spending time in nature.
I’ve been an environmentalist my entire life – hoarding crayon and pencil shavings as a kid because I was certain I could find a use for them. (I didn’t then, but I know I could now!) I studied philosophy in college which sparked an internal drive to live a life with purpose and be constantly learning. Welcome to Uproot, we can’t wait to see you!”

Prepared Foods Manager, Jeremiah Shelton
“I’m Jeremiah. Born and raised in Michigan with a creative spirit and a taste for adventure. I trained in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts in San Francisco, Chicago, and Detroit. While cooking, clerking, and serving my way through college I’ve come to believe that service to community and nourishing others is an art, a privilege, and an honor.
I’m so excited to be your neighborhood grocer so come on over I’ll fix you a plate!”

Kitchen Manager, Scott Wright
“Hi, my name is Scott Wright. I am a Battle Creek native and am proud to have lived much of my life here. I have a long kitchen background, including being the owner of BlackMarket Smokehouse LLC, a small catering company here in Battle Creek.
My hobbies include cooking, gardening, foraging, fishing, hunting, and dog sports.
I am very much looking forward to joining the Uproot team and showing Battle Creek some love via fantastic local cuisine.”
